We’re very excited to announce Renae, our newest Marketing Manager, has joined the team! Here’s an introductory Q&A so you can get to know her a bit. If you’re lucky enough to meet her, ask about her notable performance in the annual and unmistakeable Tin Horse Highway Grand National. Or ask about her ability to attract chipmunks in everyday situations:
What drew you to Magneti?
I was drawn to Magneti’s marketing philosophy. Their ideas aligned with my own and I knew that it was the type of organization I wanted to work for. Turns out they are a great bunch of people too!
Where are you from, and how did you end up here?
I come from the land down under, where Kangaroos and Quokkas wander – aka Perth, Australia. My partner has a great work opportunity in Denver and I was sold when I heard there are 300 days of sunshine each year here.
What is the Tin Horse Highway Grand National and how come we’ve never heard about this?
The event is very exclusive and only takes place once a year in a small town in Western Australia called Kulin. Participants are tasked with decorating their own Tin Horse and then they do whatever it takes to pull their horse across the finishing line. It’s got great potential for becoming a national event – watch this space.
If everything you ever lost was suddenly returned to you, what would you most be excited to see?
In 2015, I went to Burning Man and during a crazy sandstorm I lost my favorite scarf. I was given the scarf when I lived in London and had cherished it for many years. It was a silly item really but a fond reminder of my time in the UK.
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower and name be?
There’s only one true way to determine your superhero name and it’s to complete an online quiz. So according to the internet I am The Witty Wonder: “I may get beat up by the bad guys, but at least I can outthink them.”
What are the strangest words or slang you’ve heard in the US so far?
Broil? I now know what it means but it still makes zero sense to me. It’s called grill everywhere else.
If you could have a one-on-one dinner with any person, alive or dead, who would it be?
With out a doubt it would be Jean-Michel Basquiat. I think he is the most remarkable artist that has ever lived and I would love to hang out in his world for an evening.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Always be kind and generous.
